Our Green Commitment

Shaping a sustainable maritime future — through cleaner fuels, greener operations, and bold climate targets backed by real action.

What Sustainability Means to Us

Sustainability is about meeting the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. SeaTrans is working to help future generations meet their needs and contribute to a more sustainable economy by developing infrastructure that will support the introduction of essential products for the future.

We are mindful of the potential impact of our business activities on people's safety, health, and well-being, as well as our impact on the environment. Through our care for people, planet, and profit, we aim to create value for all our stakeholders, including customers, shareholders, employees, authorities, local communities, and society at large.

Sustainability

Our Sustainability Pledges

Science-based targets aligned with the Paris Agreement and IMO 2050 decarbonisation goals.

40%
Carbon Intensity Reduction

40% reduction in carbon intensity per transport work by 2030 versus 2008 baseline — aligned with IMO's medium-term GHG targets.

60%
Alternative Fuels by 2030

60% of our fleet powered by LNG, bio-LNG, methanol, or ammonia by 2030. 8 LNG dual-fuel vessels already in service.

Net
Zero
Net Zero Goal by 2050

Complete net-zero GHG emissions across Scope 1, 2, and 3 by 2050. We will offset all remaining emissions through certified blue carbon projects.

100%
Renewable Shore Power

All shore-based operations running on renewable electricity by 2027 — including Jurong Port Terminal and all owned port facilities.

Zero
Ocean Plastic Discharge

Zero operational plastic waste discharge at sea by 2025 — already at 99.4%. Advanced waste management systems fleet-wide.

500K+
Trees Planted

500,000+ trees planted through the SeaTrans Blue Forest Programme — reforestation projects across Indonesia, Malaysia, and the Philippines.

Progress

Driving Positive Change

Our sustainability roadmap aligns our purpose with the UN Sustainable Development Goals and stakeholder priorities, featuring environmental, social, and governance (ESG) targets.

Clear Targets

Science-based ESG targets integrated into our annual budget cycles, business agendas, and daily operations.

Portfolio Transformation

Strategic shift toward cleaner conventional products and zero & low-carbon energies and feedstocks.

Double Materiality

Comprehensive approach addressing both impact materiality and financial materiality in our reporting.

Stakeholder Focus

Creating value for customers, shareholders, employees, authorities, local communities, and society.

Cleaner Ships, Cleaner Seas

LNG Dual-Fuel Fleet

8 LNG dual-fuel vessels in operation, cutting SOx by 99%, NOx by 85%, and CO₂ by up to 25% versus conventional HFO.

Wind-Assisted Propulsion

Rotor sails installed on 12 vessels — delivering 8–12% fuel savings on trans-oceanic routes. Expanding to 30 ships by 2027.

Speed Optimisation AI

Machine-learning voyage optimisation reduces fuel consumption 12–18% per voyage by dynamically adjusting speed and routing.

Biofouling Coatings

Anti-fouling hull coatings reduce drag — delivering 5% fuel savings fleet-wide with zero harmful biocides released.

Sustainable Terminal Ops

Solar-Powered Terminals

3.5 MW rooftop solar installed at Jurong Port Terminal — generating 40% of the facility's electricity needs year-round.

Electric Equipment Fleet

60% of all terminal handling equipment electrified. Zero diesel RTG cranes. 30-tonne electric forklifts in operation.

Closed-Loop Water Systems

100% closed-loop water recycling at tank cleaning stations — zero process water discharge to sea. Full regulatory compliance globally.

Zero-Waste Operations

93% waste-to-recovery rate across all terminal facilities. Partner with Green Maritime to process ship-generated waste responsibly.

Collaborating for Greater Impact

We believe that meaningful progress requires collaboration. Through open dialogue with our stakeholders — including customers, shareholders, employees, authorities, local communities, and society at large — we continuously refine our approach to sustainability.

"We create value for all our stakeholders through our care for people, planet, and profit."
